What’s happening to Bovilles Art Shops?
We know that many of our customers are probably wondering why we have closed our branches in Amersham and Gerrards Cross within the last six months. Some of you may be thinking that Bovilles have problems? This is far from the truth and we must emphasise that it very much ‘business as usual’ at our branches in Uxbridge and Maidenhead.
The most significant reason behind the changes relates to some retirement and continuity planning by the owners. It was a time to sit down and look at the future.
We have come to the conclusion that we can only give a good service to our customers if our branches have a critical mass. We have to be honest and say that a small art shop in very town is becoming less and less viable. We must also say that uncertainties about the future of the general economy also went into the equation. The outcome is that our shops at Uxbridge and Maidenhead are left stronger and better as the investment in stock and other factors are now concentrated in these two branches. They are both serious art shops and can cater for a wide audience. The investment in stock and the number of products we carry would frighten a supermarket. Everything comes in many colours, several sizes, different grades and a choice of brands: this means that the number of different lines held by one of our branches is more than a large Tesburys! (around 20,000 different lines – with access to many more).
We look forward to seeing our Bucks’ customers coming to see us either in Uxbridge or Maidenhead. If you have not visited either of these shops you may be pleasantly surprised at what you find. We also run a mail order service from both our branches.
